Entry To Mid Level Cedar Siding Prices: $2.50 – $3.50 psf
Expect a price tag of between $250 and $350 per square for entry to mid range cedar shingles (and all other project materials). Low to mid range shingles are often some type of white cedar, which doesn’t typically last as long nor is it as durable as a red cedar. White cedar shingles will turn a silverish color after some years. Red cedar may also be in this price point if a lower quality of shingle is used.
Mid To High End Cedar Siding Prices: $3.50 – $4.50 psf
Expect a price tag of between $350 and $450 per square for mid to high end cedar shingles (and all other project materials). Shingles in this price point will likely be traditional red cedar found in the Northwest of the United State. Red cedar lasts longer and is more durable than the white variety, although as it ages it darkens and can appear almost dirty. The grade of shingle used on higher end project will be better, less knots in the wood and imperfections in the shingles.
Cedar Siding Installation Cost
Installation Cost: $1 – $2 per sq. ft.
Installation cost will run between $1.00 and $2.00 per square foot. This is on the lower end of the installation pricing and is comparable to vinyl siding. The material is not particularly heavy and therefore installation is not particularly difficult, as is the case with a Hardie Board or other fiber cement product.

Totals On Entry To Mid Range: $3.50 – $5.00 per sq. ft.
Expect a price tag of between $350 to $500 per square. This would include the product, all materials and the installation or labor portion of the project.
Totals On Mid To High End: $5.00 – $6.50 per sq. ft.
Expect a price tag of between $500 to $650 for each siding square. Again, this would include the product, all materials and the installation or labor portion of the project.
